Charleston County is seeking an enthusiastic individual for this highly responsible leadership position to assist in managing one of the largest transportation infrastructure programs in the Southeast!

This position makes presentations and provides periodic updates to County Council, the Administrator, the Public Works Director, and other stakeholders as needed, requiring that some evenings be spent at Community Meetings, Public Meetings and Council Meetings. This position serves as a senior member of the County Emergency Operations Center as well as other duties as assigned.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $112,000 to $125,465.60 (Salary dependent upon applicant's qualifications)

Duties and Responsibilities



Minimum Qualifications

Licensure as a South Carolina Professional Engineer, or the ability to obtain same in six (6) months, is required. A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or other related field is required, an MS degree in a related field is desired. Ten (10) or more years of progressively responsible engineering, project management, and/or Stormwater Program management and five (5) years of supervisory experience are required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Comprehensive knowledge of the geology, hydrology, and soils of the South Carolina Lowcountry, of the principles and practices of civil engineering and design, and experience in engineering fundamentals, Stormwater management in a coastal environment, Federal and State permitting regulations, and legal aspects of the industry are needed. Must have ability to communicate effectively and the ability to work under pressure within critical time frames on multiple projects, The ability to maintain effective relationships with contractors, consultants, state and municipal officials, and the public is essential. A valid SC driver's license or the ability to obtain one upon acceptance of the position is required.
