The Position

This recruitment is being conducted to fill one (1) full-time vacancy for the position of Maintenance Worker, which may be filled at the I level or II level depending on the qualifications, for the Public Works Department at Napa County. The eligibility list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited-term and extra help vacancies as they occur over the next 12 months.

About the Position:

The Department of Public Works at Napa County is dedicated to sustaining health, safety, quality of life and protection of natural resources by providing and maintaining public facilities and services in partnership with the community and other public agencies for current and future residents, workers, animals, and visitors of Napa County. The Property Management Division provides a safe, healthy environment for County employees and visitors. We offer a full range of building maintenance and custodial services for County owned and certain leased buildings. Staff manages approximately 900,000 square feet in 57 facilities throughout the County. The Maintenance Worker I/II performs a wide variety of building maintenance and groundskeeping duties and performs related duties as required.

Position Requirements:
Incumbents may be required to work weekends, holidays, irregular hours, on-call, and after normal business hours .
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
*Any license, certification, or registration required for this position shall be maintained (i.e. active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County. For continued employment with Napa County, you must maintain such license, certification, or registration to meet the minimum qualifications of this position.

Establish Eligibility List Tentatively scheduled for the week of April 27, 2026

The most qualified candidates from the oral panel interview will be placed on the eligibility list and may be considered for current and future vacancies for this position for up to one year.

SALARY -
Salaries are based on a five-step range. Appointments are usually made at the beginning step with advances occurring at six months and the completion of each year thereafter. Salary rates are reviewed annually.
