Full-time positions available with the Housing and Community Development Department, Unhoused Solutions Division, located at 414 E 12th St.
Salary Range: $4,619/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00a.m.-5:00p.m. with possible work outside of normal hours *

Responsibilities
- Identifies and assess locations where unsheltered homelessness is occurring, including encampments and other areas not meant for human habitation
- Documents field observations and engagement activity to improve the City's situational awareness of unsheltered homelessness
- Conducts outreach and engagement with individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness in public spaces
- Gathers information regarding barriers to housing, service access, and stabilization needs encountered in the field
- Supports coordination between unsheltered individuals and existing service providers, outreach teams, and housing programs
- Provides light touch referral support to connect individuals with housing resources, shelter options, or service providers when appropriate
- Works closely with Housing and Community Development leadership to communicate field conditions, emerging trends, and service gaps impacting the unsheltered population
- Supports coordinated responses to encampments and unsheltered locations in collaboration with City departments, service providers, and community partners
- Engages with property owners, neighborhood stakeholders, and community partners when unsheltered homelessness impacts public or private spaces
- Accurately record engagement activity and location based information using the Show the Way or similar system and produce required reports as needed
- Assist in improving coordination between outreach providers and housing resources available within the community
- Maintains professional standards and follow applicable policies, protocols, and regulations
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional experience in business or public sector administration to include at least 2 years performing administrative and/or supervisory work involving more complex projects or programs; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience with at least 2 years performing administrative and/or supervisory work involving more complex projects or programs.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
