Position DescriptionServe as a liaison between insurance and health care providers to ensure the timely coordination, and accurate processing, of patient referrals required for medical specialty visits.
Major/Essential FunctionsReferral Management- Process incoming/outgoing referrals; verify accuracy and required documentation.
- Monitor work queues to ensure timely progression and follow-up.
- Track referral status through closure; resolve issues and escalate delays as needed.
Provider & Clinic Communication- Liaise between referring providers, specialists, and external offices.
- Communicate referral status, barriers, and required actions.
- Ensure complete documentation is available for receiving providers.
Patient Coordination- Communicate referral status and next steps to patients.
- Assist with scheduling and provide visit instructions.
Required QualificationsAssociate degree plus one (1) year of experience directly related to the processing of patient referrals;OR High school diploma or GED plus three (3) years of experience working as a Certified Medical Assistant; OR High school diploma or GED plus five (5) years of experience directly related to patient registration, patient scheduling, patient billing/collections, the processing of prior authorizations, and/or the processing of patient referrals.
