Position DescriptionPerforms professional level work at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center by conducting classes on a per-course or limited-term basis, without any guarantee of continuing employment. Responsibilities encompass the coordination and instruction of one or more courses within a prescribed curriculum. Teachers in this classification usually specialize in the academic subject, professional discipline or technical skill being taught at the time of employment. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based upon results obtained. May supervise subordinate employees assigned to area of responsibility.
Major/Essential Functions- Provide consultation to the Department of Medical Education in areas of:
- Strategic Leadership - Continued consultation on the development and implementation of the department's vision, goals, and strategic plans in alignment with the TTUHSC School of Medicine
- Faculty Development and Mentorship - Assist with identifying areas for recruitment and helping to promote the professional growth of faculty in research and educational responsibilities.
- Academic Mission - Assist on overseeing the curriculum delivery and education of students
- Promotion (and tenure) for DOME faculty
- Provide consultation for the FMAT program in areas such as program administration, orientation, recruitment, and mentorship.
- Provide consultation for the P3 curriculum on various ethical issues surrounding the practice of medicine. Help to facilitate team-based learning sessions and P3 Honors project initiatives as needed.
- Identifying and updating website issues.
- Providing mentoring to faculty and SOM students in medical educational scholarship.
- Identifying and responding to grant opportunities related to medical education.
Occasional Duties
Required Qualifications- A degree that is appropriate to the level of courses being taught. Experience appropriate to the position rank.
